The Permanence of Loss

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet. Vestibulum amicus curae para ti.

Ceramic, video, light, Robert Lemon’s ashes

This solo exhibition fosters a discussion regarding individual connections to death. I question my own belief system by crafting a series of ceramic memorials, monuments, and videos. The exhibition serves as a launching point to discuss cultural practices related to how we are remembered.

The Permanence of Loss presents works that explore clay’s close relationship to temporality and impermanence. Two specific installations include porcelain chambers that contain the cremated remains of my deceased grandfather, Robert Lemon. All precious material is concealed and protected by ceramic objects. The Permanence of Loss exhibits my recent understanding of the body as both a material and placeholder for the spirit.
